Chris,
I see you live in Amityville. I live in Massapequa down the street - I need a little help with getting the SMTP info for Cablevision. I had no luck with the techs I got on the phone. I can RECEIVE but still cant SEND from my Treo 650. Can you help?
I am using E-mail from 1and1 but Cablevision is the outgoing SMTP. (works on the computer buy not on the TREO 650)

Then you're as waterlogged as I am... I have Cablevision (matter of fact they came out today to try and fix my internet. They managed to make it worse
). I use Everything Treo mailservers to send out my mail from my Treo. I've read an answer to your question, but I'm not sure where.. Let me look around I'll get back to you.
I would venture to say you're settings should be:
mail.optonline.net
I'd add also suggest adding your username and password..and check the box for Use Authentication.

Waterlogged - I live across the steet from the ocean, its a MESS here, my house is relatively new so I am finding all of the "to fix" things. I lost my pet 911 esterday, water up to the power window buttons, sorry RIP.
Thanks for checking. I have the mail.optonline.net seting now but I will not connect. I am tempted to set up an exchange 2003 server now that I bought this phone. I have worked for banks for years and we cant get personal e-mail there. (compliance / SEC issues)

My wife and I just came home from Thai Taste in Massapequa Park to a flooded basement.
I found the answer to your issue. Depending on your provider, you need to set up the SMTP accordingly for your wireless provider. Let me know who you're wireless provider is and I can track down the settings.
Optimum won't let you send mail outside of it's network. This happens to me when I'm travelling and try to send mail from my laptop. Basically, it's the same issue.
Stay dry.

Try this:
smtp.sprintpcs.com
(your sprint username)
(your sprint password)
Sorry about the basement, the rain is stoppping.
Thankfully. I woke up to an inch of rain in the basement. Not even sure where it was coming from... Well, off to Sears or Home Depot for a ShopVac.
The above settings should resolve your issue.

Hi guys
Thanks for the info. I'm also on LI (Long Beach) and have been thinking about getting the 650 and was wondering about this.

Please note that it is highly unlikely that Chris will come to your house for any of the following reasons:
1. To program your 650
2. To clean up your flood leaks.
3. To eat Thai food
Just so everyone is clear on that.
Thank you

I still have 1 inch of water in my basement that doesn't want to go away. As fast as I pump it, it keeps coming back. Not sure anyone would want my help. I bought a mini-Shop Vac at Costco on Saturday. What a joke - I'd be pumping until 2008 if I attempted to use that. Luckily, I'm a tenant, so the landlord has come with his mighty sump pumps.
As for the Thai food, it's one of those sacrifices I make for my wife. I'm much more a steak or Italian food type of guy.
