Forced "hard reset"
Hi
hope someone can help.
Today I was downloading some emails to my 650 - the phone turned itself off, powered itself back on and told me that "this if I choose English I would not be able to change". (I had to set my location, time, etc..like the very first time I took the treo out of the box)
I lost everything, thankfully I had run an auto sync a couple of days ago - so I was able to restore all of my settings.
Can anyone advise what happened?

Sounds like your device went into a Hard Reset, which as you suspect put it back into the "out of box" new condition.
The issue is what might have cause the sudden hard reset. Can you give us some history on the 650? Have you had it since new, did you recently buy it used or from eBay, etc? Did the device get dropped or wet recently? After you restored, did you download the same group of emails you were trying to when it died?
It is possibile you might have downloaded a corrupted email, but putting it into a spontanious hard reset would be unusual. Not necessarily impossible, just unusual.
Providing as much background as possible will assist in trying to diagnose.....

Hi SteveTaz
I bought the Treo about 2 months ago - second hand for a guy in Queensland, Australia.
The device has not been dropped nor did it get wet since I have had it.
After the hard rest - I HotSync'ed it - got back all my contact list etc - everything since my last sync, lost a few photos I had taken that day.
When I got everything back online I downloaded the emails a second time without any problem.
It did seem rather unusual - as it had worked fine up-until I downloaded those 8 emails - the device downloaded the emails put them in the inbox then shut down...restarted it self telling me to choose a language.

I'm not sure who your carrier is, but there are codes you can enter in the Phone app that will tell you which app caused the reset. For example, on Sprint, you just enter ##377#. It's not always 100% accurate, especially if you have apps running in the background, but it's a good place to start.

Hi
My carrier is VirginMobile in Australia.
I found the code #*377. This only tells me the details of the last time that I had a reset (today). There does not seem to be a full log of all issues (the hard reset I experienced happened on the 27th Oct - 4 days ago).
Is there a "running log" kept somewhere on the treo?
