Free up PDA memory but maintain data on PC?

I am very non-technical so these might be goofy questions. I have had Treos since their inception and therefore have years of data stored on my device. I do want to keep this old data stored on my PC but want to delete it from the PDA. Two questions:

1) If I delete it from the PDA, how do I prevent it from re-populating the PDA during Hot Sync? Otherwise, I am back where I began.

2) Is there a way to clear data by date? For example, can I clear all data on the PDA that is dated prior to 2006?

Hi Fouroh,

From the calendar, tasks and phone's call log you can "purge" data older than...??? and still save an archive on the PC. Look for the "Purge" in your menus. Is this the data you want to clear?
