Freezing Unlocked GSM Treo 650

How common a problem is it that your Treo 650 would lock up at least once a day? I had an unlocked Treo 650 on Cingular for just under 30 days and it would freeze on me on a daily basis. Tech support at Palm told me that could happen if it had 3rd party software loaded. Well, duh! The disc that was shipped with it was the only software I had installed. You would think they would have worked those bugs out.

The Palm customer service guy was very good and actually convinced me to send it back quickly because my 30 day return period was ending. I paid full price to get the unlocked version and I did not want a buggy device. On a positive note, I loved everything else about the Tre0 650. I really miss it, but am afraid to buy another one right now.

Don't be afraid... Sometimes it's just a faulty unit. I've got about 300 apps on my phone and I don't get freezes.

Thanks lulugirl. It's nice to know there are some okay units out there. I have talked to several people and they have experienced the same problem.

I purchased mine in July 2005. Some of the people I spoke with had units that age or older.
When did you get yours? Also, does yours have the latest firmware update from July?

I was using the Treo bluetooth headset with it too. I wonder if there were any conflicts with the two devices?

Hmm... is the problem hardware or software? My guess is software since I have heard of several instances of the same problem I had (unless there was a whole batch that had hardware issues).

I got my 650 in March. I currently have Firmware 1.23 and software version 1.06 with a custom rom. Some apps just don't play well together- that is a given. I wish there was a resource where we could go and see lists of conflicting apps.
