Question Glass screen replacement?

Hello everyone. I recently took apart my Treo 650 to clean behind the screen. When I took the phone apart I noticed that the glass screen and the touch screen were to separate pieces. So, I guess I put to much “umph” into separating the two, and now my glass screen has about a 2mm crack in the lower left hand sign. On top of that, my touch screen now refuses to work in the lower left region of the phone. An example would be: On the applications page, when I try to select the lower left application, it chooses the one to its right instead. And, when I’m making a phone call, I cannot hang up using the touch screen. I know that I can purchase a new glass screen, but would this fix my problem? Something that I noticed about the glass and the touch screens is that they appear to be connected by some weird looking connector. I now that it has some kind of tape securing them together, but this is something that I cannot make out. It appears that this connector will have to be removed when a new glass screen is installed. Can anyone provide a walkthrough or instructions on how to replace a glass screen if it will fix my problems? Or, please tell me about this “connector” that I know nothing about. Thanks in advance. (These forums are always helpful )

, Chad

Hi:

Perhaps one of the videos at pdaparts.com may help you. Here is the list.

I believe there are others out there and a Google search may help you further.

Well, I checked out the video you suggested, and it didn't go as far as I wanted it to. I need to know what to do to replace the glass screen that covers up the touch screen. Thanks for the help. I've checked all over google and I can't find anything. I've found posts of people saying that you can replace this glass screen, but no instructions on how to do so. Thanks again.

Check out the site steve posted for parts or the other thread about parts for 650 on thge net. I think that the screen and glass are one piece and should NOT come apart. I may be wrong but I think you are going to have to buy the replacement Screen (unit).

There are different connectors for different screens for the 650. Don't know why...

Im sorry about this, but I think I may have misinformed you guys about my problem. I checked again, and it seems that is not the glass screen that is cracked. Rather, it is the "plastic?" screen. It seems to protect the glass and touch screens. Could this be what is throwing my touchscreen off?

Could this screen I am speaking of be called a digitizer?

Thanks,
Chad

I know I'm going to be killed for double posting, but I have to show you this picture. I've clearly marked where the crack is, but what is it on?

You have gone places I do not want to go..... If you don't get an answer send the pic to one of the on line shops and I would think they would tell you what you need.
