| Going to Purchase TREO 650 today!!! I'm on my way to my local Sprint retailer late this afternoon to purchase my first treo 650
I'm very excited..except for the hefty price tag on it..since i'm switching over from nextel to sprint..since treo is technically supported through nextel..i don't believe i am eligible for any promotions..since i currently own the fairly new nextel i870...
I've been searching the forums for a couple of days.. seeing troubleshooting issues..what apps to get..how to work around bugs/ install and uninstall programs..backup programs..
etc
i'll be using the phone pretty much for business purposes..calendar appointments..but particularly linking my company email to my treo..i believe we have our own server..as far as that goes..is that hard to link to the treo? also..for all you treo users out there that discussed "MUST HAVE APPs' i'm sure i can do a search and find out which are which.. how can i go about obtaining them? preferably free of charge =) I'm also interested in playing videos and possibly having a high quality mp3 as a ringer...one or two at MOST...
Sorry for the long post... I am a new, and eager member of this forum, ANY input would be appreciated.
P.S. Before I head over to my local Sprint here in Queens New York . . . any last minute suggestions on where I can get a good Treo and save a couple of bucks..even though i know it's well worth it..anything?- |

Many people (myself included) have found good deals there. And you can insure your Treo with Sprint once you activate it.

If you are going to Sprint, why don't you get the new 700p? Why the 650? |

because i'm pretty sold with the 650 | I guess the 700p will go for about $79.95 a month with free data usage, but the phone will cost you about $399.00 with a 2 year contract. The 650 might be better priced if they want to get rid of stock, but I imagine they want to sell new items.
Haggle and bargain with them. Good Luck.

That should give you an idea of its features. I saw a site saying Sprint was offering new 700's for $499 with 2-yr plan and $549 with 1-yr plan. I believe it's $599 without. I'm sure someone will correct me if they've seen something different.
Feature-wise, the biggest difference is EV-DO. If you live in an EV-DO market, you're supposed to get broadband-like speeds when utilizing web services. If that's important to you, go with the 700p. There are other differences, as well. Here's a thread talking about them.
If lack of EV-DO's not a deal-breaker, the 650 may be your best choice. Prices are down, especially on eBay, and 3rd-party apps provide alot of the features that are embedded in the 700p.

| If you're signing a new contract with Sprint, the 700p is the way to go. You'll pay about $400, but you'll have EvDO -- Pocket Tunes -- 1.3 megapixel camera along with a variety of UI (user interface) enhancements. Most get a Treo with a data plan -- or end up with some sort of data plan. If you're committing to a 2 year contract, it makes sense to go with the latest and greatest. That being said, if you could get a low-cost Treo 650 without a 2 year commitment, then it might make sense. I'd venture to guess eBayers are still getting $280 because it doesn't require a contract. It's nice to see the 650 is retaining it's value.

-Chris | Hi guys,
Chris, I saw a couple of cdma Treo 650's for $102.50 with a couple of days left. With $290 as the last bid that a phone was sold...you could do OK. The
The Treo 650 will be around for a long time., it is stable and users love it!
