Default Got my new Treo 650 last night !

    Hi,

Im excited. Not beyond description,,since im already used to the friendly palm os on my T3 unit which i have been using for the past 3 yrs approx. I found a few quirks though and thought i could ask you folks how to handle it.

    1. About 10 of my excel sheets always travel with me. One of these has about 2500 records consisting of about 6 columns. It just doesnt open on the Treo. I get a screen saying please wait, but the it says error : 65535. Then returns to the file list in Doc2Go. The other files all open fine. But this one is the largest by no of records. File size is about 2.7mb. I transfered the excel files to my sd card. The sd card is hardly 10% filled. The main phone memory has 75% memory free. What do i do ?

    2. Contacts - i thought would show up as they used to on my T3. But it looks sorta spaced out and vacant. Only four names per screen. With the nos all on individual lines on the screen.lets me see only 3 to 4 records at a time. Whereas on the T3 its shows each contact on 1 line of screen space thereby showing more record per screen. Any way to do that with the Treo ?

    3. The third isnt really a fault. All my nos on the T3 were just 8 digit numbers since the T3 doesnt have a phone inbuilt, over the years i entered only the nos so i can read them easily and dial from my cellphone. So they were all entered without the 3 digit area code. Now within the Treo im unable to dial out any of the numbers since they dont have the 3 digit area code. Is there a way the treo will automatically add a 3 digit prefix when dialling out 8 digit nos ?

Quick Update : Ignore point 1. Sorted it out thru trial and error. Solution was to sync the large excel file as MS Excel and NOT AS Sheet To Go. Sheet to go seems to have some limitation on the soze of the records or something. Now i have my 2500 record file on my Treo. Im Happy.

Still would appreciate replies on points 2 & 3. Thanks.

    2. not sure because mine shows more than 4. After opening contacts you can place the first letter of your contact and it will go to them.

3.on main screen go to menu, options, phone prefs and you should see an option to always you the area code of your choice.

    Dear Plunker,

I tried that already. Its in menu > Dial Pref > Only one option North American dialing check box. If selected it gives an option to enter a prefix number. But it doesnt work. I tried. Maybe because it clearly says "WHEN DIALING ADD THIS AREA CODE TO 7 DIGIT NUMBERS :" My country tel nos are all 8 digit nos. So maybe its not able to add a code in front. And even if this worked it would add the same prefix even for 10 digit mobile nos and that will not go thru if i dialled a mobile no. However the purpose is defeated and the progammers havent obviously thought of situations all over the world. Very Disappointing.

Hmm...you have the task of adding the prefix to all your contacts one at a time. It is not too bad or take too long. I just did alot of mine because we split from one area code to two...
