Default GPS differences

I was wondering if anyone knew the difference between these two units. They both appear to run TOM TOM is it just the reciever --- I like that you get the mount and power cord with the Palm unit.

Thanks!

It appears the only difference is the Bluetooth GPS receiver. Then again, it could be the "same" GPS, just branded for Palm. The addition of the Treo vehicle mount is nice. The TomTom software is great. I don't have any experience using the Palm GPS, so I cannot comment it...

Default Do you need this?

If you have a GPS receiver in your car, from the Onstar unit, can you somehow connect it to your 650?

Coincidence that I've finished my research on BT GPS receivers... and just ordered one through e-bay.

I've already got Tom Tom installed and running on my Treo so all I'm missing is the receiver which in my opinion can make or break the efficiency of the Navigation / Tracking system. I have a bit of experience with GPS devices and navigation since I've had quite a few and used them on land, sea and air :-)

By the research I've been doing on the net (gotta love google) the BT-338 receiver is by far the best in terms of reception an reliability. It also has a healthy battery duration which in real world tests seems to last about 15 hrs although 17-20 hrs are advertised. The bottom choice on your post has this device.

This site was my decision maker after being through a few others:

Default Walking around?

Can those GPS units be used with just walking around as well. And, is there soft ware for going off road, or hiking? Might be a great thing to have if out and about.

The unit I speak above had good marks at slow speed which many devices choke on because they can't identify direction until you start moving fast enough. I guess the better SiRF start III chip influences this a lot. This a feature greatly dependent on software as well... the software must be able to quickly identify direction and keep it even at slow movement speed.

I'm testing tomtom navigation on a borrowed (older) unit and it seems to handle things quite well.

After I get my device I'll be looking for software for offroading/ cycling that can give me a track that I can use to trackback. I'll also need it to accept my own maps... I've seen many solutions for download that claim to do this but haven't started testing.
