GPS Software for Pharos GPS-500 - Treo Forums

Hello,
I just bought a Treo 650. One thing that I am very excited about is to making it a GPS unit. I received a Pharos GPS-500 unit with Microsoft's Streets & Trips 2007 about a year ago for my PC. I can not find a .prc or any kind of install for the product for a PDA and as you all know Microsoft's support rivals Hell.

So does anyone here know how I can make the GPS unit work with the Treo 650. I have the PDA, I have the GPS, I have the cable to connect them, all I need is software to put it all together.

Interesting timing for this question. Navteq (the company that provides the map data for most of the navigation systems used today) just announced earnings the other day and I listened in on their earnings conference call.
Their earning were through the roof, (and so is their stock, ticker symbol: NVT) they indicated that the: automotive market, Portable Navigation Devices, cell phone services (like Verizon's VZN), server based markets were all up, the only market for their maps which was down (almost completely dried up) was the PDA market.

I used Mapopolis on a tungsten C a few years ago and loved it. Mapopolis has dropped out of the business.

This is what is killing me about my situation. If I were to buy Streets and Trips from MS (with GPS included) it is $100. Purchase Pocket Streets for the mobile unit ($25) and you have a complete system for $125. BUT, you have to have a Mobile PC Phone or Smart Phone.

It sucks that I have all of the hardware, but no software to make it work. I just got off the phone with Pharos technical support and they do not have any software that is compatible with the Palm OS and as far as they know, there is no way to connect the GPS Receiver via wire to the PDA. If I get a Bluetooth receiver to connect with the GPS receiver then it *may* work. They have not tested on a 650, but know that it will work on a 700. But even if I do get it to communicate, I still don't know where to find software ONLY that will work.....

Frustration. I really don't want to spend over $200 just to make my 650 be a GPS unit.
