Green & Red Phone Service Light - Treo Forums

I have a Unbrabded Unlocked Treo 650. I just updated the firmware and now the phone service green light doesn't work. I show bars but no green light. When I lose service the red light flashes. Is there something I need to turn on? The firmware I installed was for unlocked, unbranded. Help...

At the main phone screen press menu, options, general preferences, see if you have the option checked or not.

I don't see that option. I show : Show Dial Pad, Typing dials phone numbers, Show Calendar event, Show Favorite buttons. Still need help. Thanks...

When the phone screen is displayed not the dial pad, press the menu button (on the right slightly above left of the red/end callphone button, then go to options, general preferences, then you should see the option to select it.

Plunker your the best for hanging in there with me. I am still not getting it. I don't understand what you are talking about the phone screen. When I push the green phone button, I get a dial pad. I see no other screen. Help me understand. I may have asked the question wrong. My LED light does not blink when I have service. When the phone is fully charged and still pluged in I do get a solid green light. Except for doing a hard reset and reinstalling all my 3rd party software (dateBk6, Ringo Pro, Volume Care + reset up versa mail and reinput codes for books I have installed) I don't know what else to do. I'll wait to here from you. H E L P

Hi Tony:

It sure sounds like the update may have changed something if this wasn't the case before the update. The choices under General Preferences described by plunker also includes one after "Show Favorite buttons"..."Blink green LED when in coverage"

That is the check box you should be seeing and if checked, the LED should blink. It is weird that it is missing from the choices, but I can't be sure it was there before the update. Do you recall if it was?

Maybe an unlocked is different (mine is Sprint). Have you looked for that checkbox under any of the other Preference choices like "Phone" or "Dial". Maybe it is different for unlocked units, but I can't imagine why?

My Treo doesn't have that preference. I'm not sure if it had it before the firmware update. If it happened during the update I don't know if a hard reset will fix it.

I did a hard reset. The green LED light worked fine. When I did my Hot Sync and reloaded everything the green LED light doesn't flash. Third party software I installed (DateBk6, Ringo Pro, Volume Care) Does anyone know why any of those would cause the light not to blink?

I'm not aware of any issues with those apps. Best way to find out the culprit would be to do the hard reset again, then install them one at a time, and test the LED after each install.

Thanks... it's always best to ask before re-inventing the wheel. Most of the time these are easy fixes that someone has already figured out how to fix. I'll let you know.
