Default Having problems emailing with Treo, please help.

I tried searching the forum for an answer so I hope this isn't a repeat question.

I have the Treo 650 with Sprint service and the updated software. I can receive email just fine but trying to respond or send new email I get the error message

"550 relaying mail to 'whoever i'm emailing' is not allowed"

I checked my settings and my outgoing mail server is correct and I went into the advanced section and outgoing server settings is port 25 and no checks in the next two blocks. Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks in advance.

some ISPs dont allow outgoing mail from servers other than their own. I had the same problem with my ISP as well. I personally use my sprintpcs mail and gmail to send outgoing mail from my treo.

Default dont know if this would help but

yahoo mail is available both incoming and outgoing. It works well. The copy and paste features works as well. You can also send group emails as if you where on your yahoo account at home

This is a support page for snappermail but the same concept should work with setting up gmail accounts with versamail as well.

Good luck

Try deleting your email account from versamail, then start all over. I have Sprint with my 650 and it gets and sends my Comcast email error free... There may be a "hic up" or typo in one of your settings. At any rate, its a quick free try...

Have fun!

All you need to do is add the check marks on the port 25 and the secure options. Then it works.
I have been using my own pop3, with 3 differnt accounts.

Your OWN pop3? 3 accounts at the same time? is this using versamail or something else? My home account with comcast is my versamail "outlook" email account... it won't let me add a second "outlook" account for work...

I'm hoping one of my kids will tell Santa to bring me Snappermail so I can have multiples...

Or is there another way?

No this isnt the case I dont think. I can send AND receive emails through AOL via Versamail. So it might just be a Gmail thing
