Headset to speakerphone...
Attention treo trekkies.....has anyone experienced using a headset and talking to someone and the speakerphone starts working??? Had been noticing volume in headset started sounding 'cavidsh', then realized that you could hear the other person from the earpiece and the speakerphone. I did not have the speakerphone activated - it just started working on its own!! Can someone, anyone help me with this???!!! It does not do it all the time, so I wonder if it is something I turned on but need to turn off.....

maybe something hit the speakerfone button on the screen somehow. I dont use a headset and sometimes while holing the phone close to my face I guess it touches and the speakerphone has come on and killed my ear until I turn if off. Not much fun.

maybe....but this happens when the earpiece is my ear!!! i have one of those earpieces with the answer/end button on it and use it for that purpose and the speakerphone suddenly activates itself. i also have a friend that has a 650 and she has had to swap her phone out 3 times because of the earpiece plug. spooky if u ask me!! could there be a software fix to repair this?

wired? or bluetooth? If you are loosing the bluetooth connection the speaker may activate. you might experiment by using bluetooth and turn off device to see if your speaker activates. Might need another device.
Plunker

the earpiece is wired. when it happens it sounds like i am talking in a cave. i can unplug the earpiece then plug it back in and it will have 'unspeakerphoned' itself. please don't tell me i may need a new one...hard to find new 650's now without paying the puppet master first!!
weird i tell ya!!

I would run and get a bluetooth headset! You can get a good basic one in the twenties. To scary to use the wired after reading the posts here. I use my jack for a fm converter with the phone in a drink holder with the connection up where nothing touchs it.

they also have a device that fits into the universal connector like the sync cable and has a headset connector on the tail end. I have seeen it in other posts here at ET and I think its in the ET store

Yeah, it sounds like the jack is kinda broken.
