    Default Help Please!!!

I'm not able to send gmail emails through my 650 either and I've tried the hints listed here. Can someone give me step-by-step help cause I am not tech-savvy AT ALL and I just got the 650 a couple weeks ago
I can receive gmail emails (thanks to another step-by-step guide posted on this site - THANKS!! ) but when I try to send I get a message that says "Unable to resolve name smtp.gmail.com smtp.gmail.com. Check your DNS settings or enter the IP address for your mail server.

I'm with Sprint and these are my current settings:

    Incoming Mail Server:
    pop.gmail.com

    Outgoing Mail Server:
    smtp.gmail.com

    Incoming Server Settings:
    Port Number: 995
    SSL: checked
    APOP: unchecked

    Outgoing Server Settings:
    Port Number: 465
    SSL: checked
    ESMTP: checked

On sprint I could not send e-mail with my pop3 server. I charged the outgoing to smtp.sprintpcs.com and it started working.

What is strange is later I entered my service provider outgoing server address and it worked too.

Just a guess based on the message that you're getting... Is there any chance you have your SMTP server set as "smtp.gmail.com smtp.gmail.com"?

I was getting that error until I read this thread. All I did was set the outgoing port number to the same as my home PC and it worked.

It's under the account settings. I use Snapper, but the port for my SMTP server is set to 587.

Yes - Change the port on the SMTP to 587. 465 did not work for me, but 567 did. Why, I don't know.

My port settings are completely different from the ones you guys are saying that are on yours. I guess your service provider provides one or your palm acquires one.

Did you check the smtp settings?

GO to versamail, menu button , acccounts, account setup then edit and go through the screens to check info. Do you have the server name in twice for your outgoing server?

I had a problem and a 30 minute call to sprint had me fixed up.
