Help cant send outgoing emails in versamail

My port settings are completely different from the ones you guys are saying that are on yours. I guess your service provider provides one or your palm acquires one.

Did you check the smtp settings?

GO to versamail, menu button , acccounts, account setup then edit and go through the screens to check info. Do you have the server name in twice for your outgoing server?

I had a problem and a 30 minute call to sprint had me fixed up.

nope, smtp.gmail.com is in only once as the outgoing server.

guess i'll have to breakdown and call sprint and find out what the deal is.

i run my own server out of my house and when you get a relaying denied for outgoing mail from the treo you're server will give you a relaying denied!!!!!

well i looked in my logs and found out that even though there are 3 huge blocks for ipaddresses they are all under the spcsdns.net domain name!!!!!

just add "spcsdns.net" to the spam rules of you're server and alow relaying!!!!

i can now send messages all day long.

God it was so simple!! i got my phone yesterday and with in one our i had it figured out!!

and the people at sprint couldn't figure it out!!!!!!!!!!! i mena don't the have mcse's and BA graduates over there and they are to lame to figure it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i called there tech support yesterday and told the tech MY find!! he practically fell out of his chair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and told his supervisor.

I wan to make it clear that i was the first one to discover the fix at 3pm on 4-26-2006 and am taking FULL CREDIT for the find!!!!!!

If you have sprint, you should just send outgoing mail to sprint's smtp server.

Sprint apparently allows relaying, as I'm able to send directly throught smtp.gmail.com.

I tried using sprint server and got error 500 5.5.1 unknown command '''' specified
Any help would be appreciated.

True, I was looking at my configuration and I had several of my email accounts sending directly to the servers and the others to sprintpcs.com.

looks like it is having a problem with the email address. Unbalanced may mean the email address is malformed (not formatted as a normal email address). Secondly, it is pointing out the "<" character. So look for this character in the email address and see what you find.

I don't have the < in my e-mail so don't know where that is coming from. I'm trying to use the sprint server but I keep getting this error 500 5.5.1 unknown command '''' specified

I even tried changing the e-mail address I list in the area where you also add the in and out going server info, including leaving it blank and still got the error about "<"...any ideas???
I'm going to try calling sprint to see if they can help.

Update: Spoke to Sprint and they got my Sprintpcs mail working so now I can send as well as receive.

i have it working in versa mail with receiving and even sending, but its attachments i am having a prob with.
i recently flashed my treo 755p to work on metro pcs and i cant get pic messaging working, well thats what the flash guy says anyway - does anyone know how to get around that?

Anyway, so i figured i could at least send pics via attachments. No luck. I can send b/c i have tested it a couple of times and when no attachments, its fine.

can anyone offer any help?
