Help me get my TomTom working
Hey everyone. I'm new to the forums and there's something I'm dying to get working. I was given a Treo 650 (with PalmOS) from my brother, and I want to get TomTom working on it. I have a Navigator CD, and the GPS receiver that can be connected to the laptop. I've got my Treo to recognize the bluetooth receiver, but the software on my computer won't recognize it. I have no instruction manual, so please tell me what bits I am missing, and what I'm doing wrong. Any help is appreciated.

When you say won't recognize it, does that mean that you are unable to establish a Bluetooth connection?

My palm sees the bluetooth connection. It's in the trusted devices as "Palm GPS". I just don't really know where to go from there. I have the TomTom software installed on my laptop, but when I connect my Palm (and the GPS receiver) to the laptop, the software doesn't recognize it, as if it isn't connected. I can't seem to get the software to find it.

I thought you need to install tomtom on your palm and it would work with your gps receiver. I have never heard of using palm, laptop and a gps receiver together....

It does not. You can use the Palm to cruise the Internet on the laptop. The information from the GPS though can go only as far as the Palm. Have you considered a GPS unit for the laptop? Garmin makes them and a close friend with one tells me it works real well with Google Maps on his laptop.

I may have explained things wrong. You're right that it is the tomtom software on my laptop, and that my palm has a bluetooth connection to the gps receiver. I guess the issue is that I don't know how to get the palm itself to act as the tomtom program. The tomtom software on my laptop does not recognize my palm when it is connected.

I believe you need the TomTom computer card.

I guess that is the missing piece of the puzzle? How do I install TomTom software onto my palm? Where is that software available? Can the 'computer card' be bought by itself?

I would check with the tomtom site to see what you have and what you need. Then check ebay or them for what you are missing. There are newer versions of tomtom or I guess multiple versions so do a little research before you buy.
