Help on Treo 650, "Q,W,E,R,T" buttons are becoming shortcuts of the 5-way button
Need help! My Treo 650 is giving me a problem. the keyboard is new and my phone was working perfectly prior to this.
My phone's "QWERTY" buttons have gone crazy. They are doing doing like the work of other shortcuts, secifically, the 5-way button shortcuts. Let me explain. When I press the "Q" the phone does "UP" the execution of the 5-way button. When I press the "W" the phones does the "DOWN" execution of the 5-way. "E" does "LEFT" and "R" does "RIGHT. Then the "T" becomes an "Outbox Text Messaging" shortcut and the "Y" does the "STANDBY/SCREENSAVER" option.
This means that I can't dial the 787 if i'm dialing with the keyboard, type those letters in memo, calendar, etc... and write text messages.
Otherwise, my Treo 650 works completely fine.
PLease help anyone. I'm really fustrated with the device, now more because my warranty was until June 2006, so it's too late to send it or is there a company that corrects any problems with treo's. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANK U.

Did you install a program such as LudasP or whatever it is called? Do you have an application that you may have made some hard key assignment in? Have you done a soft reset to see if that helps? I bet a hard reset will take care of it.

I only installed minitones, pocket tunes, volume care and zlauncher. I haven't done any hard key assignments neither. I have done a soft reset and it didn't work. The hasrd reset worked for a couple of minutes and then it did the same thing. Isn't there any other reset that I don't know about.

You can always try the zero out reset, which is the real hard reset. Make sure to rename your Backup folder ( C:\Program Files\Palm\YourHotsyncID\Backup ) to something else or the next time you do a hotsync, you will load everything back including whatever is causing your problem.

does a reset like this turn a once unlocked phone back to its original locked state??? biggest fear- or does it take something more complicated than this to re-lock a treo?
