Default HELP!!! SMS restarts the device

I have three separate issues I'd like to discuss: one with hotsync and two with SMS/text msg.

    Hotsync--
My treo560 (cingular) wouldn't hotsync with my laptop or PC. I have successfully synced in the past. It doesn't respond at all when I press the hotsync button. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the PalmOne software, no change.

    SMS/Text msg--
    1. when I open a chat log, there is no text. It seems as though it all got deleted. This is particular to only one or two SMS/chat session. Other conversations are normal. And as the new messages arrive in that particular chat log, they get deleted.
    2. There is one conversation that performs a soft reset if accessed. When I try to click on the chat log to view the conversation, the screen blanks out and "PalmOne" screen is displayed and the device restarts itself.

I have thought about performing a hard reset to eliminate the problem, but I need to hotsync[upload data] before I could proceed.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe the suggestions in this discussion thread will help.
