Need Help **Help Treo in constant loop after Update**

I tried searching but couldn't come up with anything sorry. Her is my situation, I went on palm.com so I could get the latest updates on my Treo because it was passed down to me by my sister (she got a better one she said). Well once I pressed the sync button for the update, the treo's screen displayed the Palm Powered thing and then went on to the PalmOne loading screen and well thats all it did. All night long it just kept going on in a constant loop on that same sequence and well its still doing it as I type this and it has been 2 days!

Please any body with any info as to what I should do? I already have every thing I need on my Palm Desktop thing. Also it had SplashShopping, SplashMoney or something like that on the treo, will this be erased?? I synced my treo but I just see all my contacts, pics, ect. saved.

Does a "warm reset" take care of the scrolling problem? The Palm site has a trouble shooting guide that might help you. When I upgraded my 650 months ago I experienced no proble. Ben

The problem is I can't do anything on it. It's just on a constant loop, no matter what I press, even taking out the battery and putting it back in. It just does the same thing over and over, its 2 loading screens. I'll take 2 pictures right now to show what I mean.

It just keeps going in a constant loop on those 2 screens and I can't stop it.

Hello Havok,

Out of curiosity, which carrier is your Treo with and what update were you performing?

To break that loop, do a Hard reset.

Then you'll need to re-install the updater from the beginning.

Sincerely
Kevin

I am having the exact same problem. I synced and when I came back it was doing this. I did the hard reset and went to sync up again so I could get all my numbers back on and it went back to looping again. So, I did a hard reset again so I could at least have a phone for a couple days. Any help would be great. thanx. e

Did you recently install a third party app? If you did it can be causing the looping and you are putting it back on the treo when you sync.

Hello racrx2,

I agree with plunker, looping is most often third-party software related. You might check the Palm Knowledge Library article Diagnosing problems caused by third party applications for details on how to track down the offending app.

Sincerely
Kevin

Just wanted to weigh in here with my 2¢. As these guys have said, 3rd party conflicts are the usual suspects for a crash loop. What might be happening is that your hot sync after the hard reset is also re-installing whatever corruption is causing the loop. Try being highly selective with your conduits; for example, just turn on the Contact conduit and see what happens. Keep the (Restore from) Backup contuit turned off.

In any case, I'd get the Treo update taken care of before adding any other apps or personal info. These updates can be very persnickety, so be sure to follow the directions precisely. Also, based on personal experience, make sure your Treo (and your laptop if you're syncing to one) are plugged in to an AC power source.

Keep us posted and good luck.

i never installed any 3rd party stuff (that I know of).. when I did the hard reset.. i went to palm and got the update.. then tried to put that on there (requires sync which put everything back on) and it started doing it again. Im pretty retarded when it comes to this thing and Ive had it for a year. I really just need all my contacts back on there. How do I update and just put the contacts on their???? or is it even possible?? thanx.
