Default Help! Very close to buying a treo 650!

Hi my name is Martin. I'm a previous a sidekick II user, and I realised that it was kind of an immature device and didn't fit me well. Now I'm looking at the treo 650. I've read many reviews but am still unsure if the treo is right for me. What are the up sides of the treo (that I probably haven't been told about) and what are the down sides (that I probably would have never known)? And also, where can I find a treo 650 for cheap? Thank you guys so much.

Hello there...welcome to the forum.

Well, let's see here:

--> What are the up sides of the treo?
-> Mainly, I'd say functionality. If you like to always be connected, or like to have a 'swiss army knife' of phones at your fingertips, then the Treo 650 is for you. I'm a nerd and I LOVE my Treo. It seems large at first, but you get used to it real quick, it grows on your.

--> and what are the down sides?
-> For me = you can't surf and be on the phone at the same time. Also, the connection speed is not what you're thinking it is...it's not like your home or work broadband connection. Having said that, there are plenty of sites that run fairly decent on the Treo.

--> Where to get it cheap?
-> I'd suggest eBay, that's where I got mine. If you're willing to take the time and I guess the chance, then it's very much worth it. Paid about $350 for mine, out of the box, w/128SD card and case, no activation.

See you around...

Martin:

I am a hardcore Pocket PC guy, and I am pleased with my Treo 650. For my needs of calendaring, taskpad, and contacts management, it is a good tool. And I am only beginning to learn its possibilities.

Price: I got mine for $249CAD (cheap!). I told my Roger's network that Bell was trying to lure me away to a cheap new plan with them. I also told them that they were offering me the 650 for $350CAD at $50CAD a month for a family plan with unlimited long distance. Roger's immediately turned around and offered me many financial reasons to stay with them, including the Treo 650 brand new for $249CAD. They also matched the Bell monthly plan rates, and gave me a Nokia 6101 for free for my wife. And they threw in another 100 bux in accessories.

If you already have a cell phone contract in your life, shop around and maybe try a comparison in your area. You may be in a similar position to play the providers off each other for a reduced 650 price!

Depends if you want to go through all the red-tape of activating a new account with sprint.
Personally, I'd prefer to just get the phone w/o all the strings attached.

Also, if you're just wanting it at the cheapest price & you're willing to do a contract, then check here:
http://store.everythingtreo.com/cont...s/page-650.htm

You can get it for that price w/o going through eBay, etc.
It's via Earthlink, who uses Sprint for their network I'm told.
