    Default help with bluetooth headset....

just got the motorola ht820 headset for my treo 650 so i could listen to music and take calls. sounds great, right? and i have read great reviews about these and other bluetooth headsets. however, the audio wont stop breaking up. it plays for a little bit then blanks out, comes back, blanks out. sometimes it can go a while without doing it, and then it goes crazy. im right next to the phone, so its not distance. im using pocket tunes, and i have the trial version of audio gateway. i want these to work SO bad, but i cant find any help with them.

I have no personal experience with your setup, but you might consider two things.

First, are you certain you're getting a clear Bluetooth signal? This may sound silly, but try holding the Treo near the headset, or wearing it on your belt, on the same side of your body as the headset.

Second, Softick Audio Gateway may be streaming audio in excess of the bandwidth of your BT connection. Check with Softick about changing the streaming settings to a lower bitrate (if that's possible). A marginal Bluetooth connection (see above) would compound this problem.

    Default yes, but

it is possible to lower the bitrate but the sound is TERRIBLE when that is done. and yeah i usually have the phone very close to me when im using them. its weird, all the reviews i read were fantastic, no one had many problems except when switching over from music to calls, but no one reported any problems. me and my friend have the same phone and same headset and they both do this.

Hmmm. May want to try airing with a different headset and see if throughput is still poor.

Not sure I follow your plan. You're going to pair what?
My suggestion was to pair your Treo to a different headset to see if the headset is the weak link. Did you mean that you got a MBP with Bluetooth headset. afaik, they all come with a built-in BT tranceicver.

I was just doing some searching to find out how to listen to PTunes through my BT headset and found an old thread from 2005 saying it can't be done, and this 2007 thread indicating it can be.
I have a 650 and currently when the BT is on, and the headset is on, and I start PTunes, the music still comes out the phone's speaker.
How do I get music on the headset?

    Nevermind!
Just came across softkick (or something like that) while doing another search. I'll go try that.
If it turns out to not be a free solution, and someone knows of one that is, I'd love to hear of it.

Audio Gateway was released by Softick in February 2006, so that 2005 info is obsolete.

The 650 is supported. Not free, tho: $19.95.
