    if you are talking about ringtones from 3gforfree.com or other sites the answer is no. You can download songs and they will be stored on your phone. You are using up memory on your phone so keep an eye on your free memory.

    I believe the start of this thread is to use downloaded MP3 files and to convert/use them as ringtones. Ringtones will work fine on your phone.

    Do you need a SD card reader to put mp3 files on the Treo?
    I think that might be the easiest way. There are software solutions that allow you to "mount the SD card" like a hardrive. Softick Card Export II will mimic what a USB card reader does. On the Mac side, I use Missing Sync which is also software that mounts your SD card. With Missing Sync, my Treo 650 appears in iTunes -- allowing me to drag and drop tunes right in iTunes. (music from iTunes won't work on the Treo)
