I'm new to this forum and a recently became purchased a Verizon wireless Treo 650. So far so good. I'm really liking the phone so far and things have gone relatively well. I'm extremely pleased to see there are many others who like the phone and have created this site. Great job! Site looks really good and seems filled with lots of great info too.

Congratulations on your new Treo. I'm sure you'll find it be unlike any phone you've owned and the capabilities are endless. Thank you for the nice comments. We're always looking to make improvements and make the site a more valuable resource for our readers.

1. What's the best bluetooth headset to get for this phone?
|
Well, that's a matter of personal preference. I use the
Sony HBH-660 and I'm very happy with it as are others on this board. I've seen a number of folks use the
Jabra headsets and the
Cardo Scala is a nice value headset for the Treo. I recently did a
review of the HBH-660.

2. Is there currently a working/functioning/affordable fix to getting voice dialing working for this phone?
|
Voice Dialing works with the use of third party software, but not with your Bluetooth headset.

How do I get instant messeging services (i.e. AIM, MSN messenger) to work real time with this phone?
|
Check out
VeriChat - it's an all-in-one IM client.

4. I would like to be able to access/view/send real time e-mail using my hotmail and yahoo services. Is this possible? If so how?
|
You could access via Blazer - the Treo's web client. Not sure if either offer POP access which is what you'd need to use your email client.

5. Finally, what are some "useful" software/programs that all of you out there with the experince think I should look into getting? (from what I've seen add on programs cost a fortune)
|
It all depends on what your into. If it's IM/Chat, then
VeriChat is worth the $$. If you're the type that likes to Blog, then check out
SplashBlog. Here's
my blog that I recently started and I'm having a good time with it. My life just needs to be more eventful, so I can start posting some better photos! The product is cool
The good thing about most of the software is that you can do trials to see if you like it. I would just try to avoid loading up your Treo. I've done this in the past and didn't get a chance to use all the software I installed by the time the trial completed.
Explore. Have fun. Ask questions here if you need help.
