"hiding" new SMS - Treo Forums

is there a way of setting the Treo so that when a new SMS is received the content is not flashed immediately on the screen? on a cell/mobile the message received thing shows but sometimes the full content of the significant other's txt is NOT what i want flashed publicly on the screen!! if you know what i mean. ;-)

Yes, Go int othe options menu and click on Options>Preferences>privacy mode

It will come up that you have a new text message and ask if you wish to view it now

not being stupid.......just not familiar with the treo and all its wonder.......
So much you overlook things.

I asked when I first got mine how to get rid of the 1 voicemail on the favorites......LOL!

i have a verizon 650 and i do not have that option of privacy under preferences for my sms messages. is there another place i can go?

That seems odd... If you are in your messages app, (as if you were getting ready to send a new SMS), then push the menu key, then options, it should bring up a menu which includes preferences. However... if you do not have that option, the "Butler" software includes a privacy option. I have been using Butler for several months, and really like it; especially the ability to turn off the LED when I don't want it on!
