Hotsync cable

Hi,

Can anyone help me in letting me know how to do a hotsunc with treo 650. I have a hotsync cable with me.... but I assume there should be a button at the end of the cable where we connect it to the treo... in order to do the hotsync. The cable that i got is a USB cable... with out this button. How do I do the hotsync button...

P.S: Please check the attachment... I do not have the button B... for the cable that i recevied with my treo 650... how do i hotsync...

Hit your Home button, then tap the Hotsync app, and tap the Hotsync icon to start a Hotsync.

It did work.... thanks a lot. But there are some more probs...

I got this treo 650 from my friend. When I tried to sync, it created an account with his name. [I guess he already have an account with his name on the treo] My questions are:

1] How can i delete the profile of my friend on treo and on my laptop....

2] How do i create my new profile.... [because whenever i try to regsiter a new app, I need to do a hotsync and it will try to register on his account name...]

You need to do a hard reset. Pop off the battery cover, and use the stylus to press the reset button *while holding down the power button.* Do not release the power button until you see the Palm Powered screen. A message will appear warning you that you're about to erase all data on the Treo. Press up on the 5-way to confirm. This will reset your Treo to its default factory state.

The first time you Hotsync after resetting your Treo, you will be prompted to create a new profile. Be aware that some of the apps your friend registered will require you to reregister, as they are linked to his Hotsync id.

How about the contacts and sms messages that I have in my Treo... can i save them somewhere in my comp.. and then import them back to my treo once i did the hard reset...

Also, is there a way to delete the profiles that got created on my laptop, when I did the hotsync with my frnds name...

IN palm desktop under tools, users you can delete or add users there. You can setup which user to hotsync with. Once you setup up and sync your new user you can hotsync to the specific areas of the old user. (contacts, tasks etc..)This will pick up all the contacts not just your new ones.

You can go in and delete the contacts you do not want then do a sync. I don't know about saving your messages.

I'll answer your 2nd question first. Look for a folder with your friend's hotsync id under:
c:\program files\palm
-or-
c:\program files\palmone
You can delete that folder, *but* if you want to save your SMS messages, then first you need to copy all of the files beginning with SMS (from the Backup subfolder) to your new profile's Backup folder. PIM information such as contacts should automatically be restored.
