Default hotsync only works with infrared?

Sorry. The post should've said works with Bluetooth only.

About a month ago, I had to reload my palm software in order to reinstall docs to go. after I did that, I am no longer able to hotsync using my cable. I can use the Bluetooth but it cuts out and frequently will delete my entire calendar. I got a new cable, thinking that would do the trick, but it didn't do anything.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? Should I uninstall Palm software and reinstall?

    Thanks

Uninstalling and reinstalling (with a reboot in between) will almost certainly fix you problem. However, here are some other things to check/do first:

On the treo Hotsync screen, make sure the "Local" button is selected (not Modem)

The pulldown option, under the Hotsync swirl should be set to "Cradle/Cable"

After checking those settings, whether or not you actually change anything, try resetting the treo.

On the computer, right click the Hotsync swirl icon in the icon tray and make sure that the "Local USB" option is checked.

Also on the computer, right click the Hotsync swirl icon in the icon tray and choose setup. Then go to the "Network" tab and make sure none of the user profiles are set. (I'm not really sure if this helps)

On the General tab, you want to make sure the "Always available" button is selected.

Try the hotsync again, if none of that helped, yes, try a complete uninstall, reboot (power cycle is even better) and reinstall.

If that still doesn't work try a hard reset of the treo..

The hard reset will erase everything on the treo, but when you do a sync afterwards, it will be restored to where it was after your last successful resync. If the hard reset works and the first resync works, but not the second, there is something in your configuration on the treo (that was just restored) that has broken the hotsync functionality.

Thanks. The problem was that the "local usb" option was gone from my hotsnyc. when i would try to reinstall, it didn't happen. It only worked after doing a complete uninstall and then a reinstall.
