Where in the process do you get the restart...if it is after it connects you might set the conduits to not sync then do one at a time until you find what is causing the reset. Then we can work on it some more..

I get the restart immediately. I unchecked all conduits, tried it, then checked a different one.... a few times.

So the hot sync completes then the treo by itself goes into a reset? Does it keep looping in a reset? (reset after reset) If you can't load a program like dbfixit to find corrupt data before it resets you may need to clear some data. Have you tried renaming your backup folder then syncing to see if it will not go into resets....

The hotsync proscess starts.. and within one or two seconds my phone resets. Never does the process continue now

Since this happens early in the sync process, I would take a look at the PIM files - as mentioned above, DBFixit is a viable way of checking the integrity of those files. You can email it to the device, Bluetooth it, do it via a card reader, et cetera. Also, if the desktop is in good shape (the PIM files are good, et cetera), you might set the conduits to DESKTOP OVERWRITES DEVICE. I would do the DBFixit thing first.
Also, how much free memory do you have on the device?
Honolulu - 2,500 miles west of somewhere in the middle of nowhere, the land of Shakes. Kyoceria 6135, Treo 300, 600, 650, 700p, 700w, Centro & 800W, Touch Pro plus 3 other WM phones...

I'm sorry... I don't know anything about PIM files or how to check them.

Tina have you tried to rename your backup folder and then sync? In windows explorer maybe under program files, palm or palm one you should see your user name and a back up folder there. Rename it to something besides backup and try to sync....you can always change the name back to backup if it does not work....I believe the folder is backup or back up besure to remember the exact name..
You may need to rename then hard reset then sync

Palm support walked me through this as you suggest... it didn't help. I guess my phone is old and well used, other things are going wrong as well. I will buy a new one in a few weeks.

Hi Tina:
Don't give up so quick....What third-party software if any do you have installed? Did you install anything new just before the resetting started?
Have you looked at the usb cable connectors and the connector at the bottom of the Treo looking to see if there could be any debris stuck or a bent pin causing a short? Blow some compressed air into each just to see if it could help. If you have another USB cable to try and/or a different USB port that could be helpful.
Actually, I don't recall if you stated how you did the hotsync, cable or Bluetooth. If you are using Bluetooth try a cable and vice versa.
Have you dialed the "377" code to see what shows up as the active process that caused the crash? Keep in mind this is not foolproof as programs that interact with each other can give a false reading, but it is a place to begin the search. By the way, for Sprint to do this press ##377#. I believe Verizon might be #*#377#. When you press the last #, a window opens to describe the process running when the crash occurred. Other carriers use variations of that code. It may just read Hotsync, but it is worth looking at.
Let's not give up yet....
