| how come my phone won't turn ON!? ok, so i "dried out" my treo 650 after it had water damage,
put it with some dessicant in a tubberwear container and left it for like 3 days or so....
the little bit of water that was in the screen disappeared but i left it overnight until i put the battery back in & turned it on.
the phone turned on, no problem. my calander dates, tasks, contacts, pictures were all there.
i highlighted a contact number to make a call and it kept giving me the "Your phone is off. Would you like to turn it on now?" When i checked Yes, it went to the Verizon startup screen and just repeated that everytime.
So basically, my phone is functioning, but it just won't turn "ON".
I tried resetting it.
I took the battery out again.
it's currently charging.
ANYONE ELSE HAVE A SIMILIAR PROBLEM? |

ANYONE ELSE HAVE A SIMILIAR PROBLEM? | That's a good one! I would have expected all or nothing upon the phones resurrection attempt! Since it goes as far as you say, you've got to do a hard reset and hotsynch first and see what happens.... if no change then, delete all the phone apps from the pc, hard reset again, and start a brand new install....
Also contact Verizon and see if they can "see" your phone is active when its on...
probably just one little, little, little setting got reset to factory default after "drowning"...
Let us know!

Maddog | oh man... thanks for that advice
what exactly is a "hard reset"....?
and also, what would i be hot syncing?
sorry, i'm stupid. & hungover.
i dunno if it would be "active" considering it has this "Netword Searching" thing at the top that doesn't go away.... never noticed it before... |

| A Hard Reset basically brings your Treo 650 back to it's factory state. In doing so, you delete all of you contacts, dates, events, etc. If you HotSync this information to your PC/Mac, then you can "bring it back" to the Treo after the hard reset.
Here's the Palm Knowledge Base on how to do a Hard Reset. Remember to HotSync, so you can get your data back.
Have faith, my good friend drowned his Verizon Treo 650 and it came back to life after a few days of drying out.

| yikes... so i did the hot sync & hard reset of my treo, didn't work... so then i called VZW to see if the phone was active or whatever, it wasn't... the tech support lady (who was remarkably pleasant for once!) told me that it wasn't recieving a signal .... it kept saying "network searching" on the top left... and so now she is sending me a new treo.
i have to send them back this treo and even though the water marker sticker didn't turn red, i'm sure they'll take one look inside the phone and realize it was water damage.
the tragic part about this whole fiasco is that i only got this phone because it was relatively cheap when i signed a new 2 year contract. not to mention, on my last plan i had phone insurance, but the VZW rep didn't apply it to my new contract... |

| Dude, I would like, double check my next bill and look for the insurance charge... if its not there, then get it! you just found out why!!
Still doesn't make sense to me though... you dried it out just fine and it worked... (PDA side) not sure why it "deactivated" the phone part...
Later,
Maddog

Those tech guys are going to turn it on and check a couple of items to verify its not working. It will then go to repair and they don't really care at that level what happened, just fix it and move on. I don't believe these guys are real motivated to solve stuff that happens to your phone.
Good Luck |
