Default How do i do a fresh clean install on my treo without losing data

    Hi Guys,

Over the months ive been installing new software that i bought.
Some times after errors. Ive had to reinstall third party applications.
But the memory footprint seems to have increased immediately after doing a fresh install. I guess there are stray files and other debris which i want to get rid of. I want to hard reset my palm. And just restore only my data. Then reinstall each of my few 3rd party applications. How do i go about doing this. Or is there a better way to do this ?

I basically want to have a fresh start with my treo with just a factory condition handset and my data. But minus the 3rd party progs. But i think the data folder also remembers stuff in archives, backup etc.

Which is the best way to do this please ?

    Thanks

You may need to get the codes for your 3rd party apps to reinstall. If you have them you can do a hard reset and set up a new user name and install them to get a clean phone....I don't think you would gain much memory to mess with cleaning your phone up..it won't make it run faster.

You might also consider a 3rd party launcher capable of storing the applications on the card. This along has the potential of saving you bunches of memory.

Plunker > By Codes if your menaing the serial nos/keys for software activation , yes i have them. I have only about 3 3rd party applications. And i have the registration codes given to me by the developers.

The issue i had was that my Treo + Data + 3rd Party Applications installed occupied a memory footprint which always showed 14.5 Mb as free on the launcher info panel. But recently i was having a small issue with one of the 3rd party applications. So i deleted it and then reinstalled it back. Immediately i noticed that the memory footprint had increased, thereby showing only 13.2 Mb as free space. So im sure some application data had got orphaned during the delete and are still there as stray files etc. What i want to do is to delete all my 3rd party applications. Have a hard reset unit. Then Sync to my data files from my palm folder. But i want to ensure there are no strays of the 3rd party software stored in my palm data folder. Is it ok to empty the archive and backup folders before i sync back using a desktop overwrites device setting ?

Benjie > I dont think a 3rd party launcher will help with software such as CALLREC right ? These programs need to reside in the main memory all the time. But do correct me if im wrong.

    Thanks...
