How do I make BEEP ONCE ONLY as my ringtone?
The last cell phone I owned had an option to either use your ringtone, vibrate, or JUST BEEP ONCE. This was a wonderful option between having a full ring during a meeting and a vibrate (anybody have a case like mine where the vibrate is as loud as the ring?).
Is there a setting or any software that will give me the option to have my ringtone be BEEP ONCE ONLY? (I see this setting in messaging, but not for the phone).
Thanks!

I don't know if there's a way to do it on demand. I use an app called Profiles that lets me have one setting for business hours, and another in the evenings and on weekends. mRing also lets you use a schedule for ringtones, but I ended up using Profiles because mRing only lets you specify hours and not days of the week.

There are a couple of options for you:
1. In Preferences > Sound & Alerts > Phone (pull-down) > Tones (tab), there's a ringtone called "Alarm beep." True, it does beep twice but it may be close to what you're looking for.
2. In Preferences > Sound & Alerts, tap the Manage... button and then the New button. This lets you record anything, even your own voice, to use as a ringtone (it will be added to the ringtones menu). You can try recording another gadget making a satisfactory beep.
3. If you can make or procure a beeping sound in some audio format (MIDI, mp3, wav, ogg, etc.) you can use a third party application to set it as a ringtone. Just be sure the app you choose - and there are many - is compatible with the ringtone you'll use. I have a whole library of various beeps, blings, and boings. If you're thinking of trying this route, I'd be happy to e-mail you a bunch to try out. Just let me know the format.

Hey, kabeyun
I am always prowling for new "alert" tones... not long ringtones. If you're willing to share, I'd love to get some of those beeps and boings you mentioned!

Definitely. Sharing makes the world go 'round. Send me a private message with your e-mail address (I suggest spelling out "dot com" to foil those bots) and I'll send you a .zip file with a bunch. They're .wav's, if that's OK.

Thanks!
Thanks for all the good advise!
I think installing my own ringtone is going to be the way to go. I find that if I record 1 beep, then leave silence after, recording the wav to it's 1-minute limit, I get the effect I want - a ringtone that just beeps once (and once only) softly.

kabeyun,
I have sent you a private message requesting the ringtones you offered.
thanks!

No 3rd party app needed
In this thread, I've put up instructions for using Blazer to import .wav's natively into the Treo's sounds list.
