Default How do you copy a file from your SD card to your Treo?

Hi, I am trying to get a ringtone on my Palm Treo 650. I read that I have to convert it to a WAV file first, and I used Audacity to shorten it and convert. Later, I read I had to convert it to ACM Waveform, which I did with Cool Edit Pro(The same file that resulted from Audacity).

When I add the file to my SD card, it does not show up in my sounds ringtones directory. I read that I have to transfer the file directly to my Palm Treo. How do I go about doing this?

You have to have some sort of file management software installed on the treo to manipulate the file system. Download the free program FileZ and make sure it is installed in main memory (not the card) then using FileZ, find the ringtone file on your External Card and checkmark it; using the Options button click on Move and it will ask your destination - choose internal memory.

When moving it to the internal memory, I get an error. Is it too big? It's 4,639 Kb

That is wayyy too big; my largest homemade ringtone is 571KB. Are you trying to use the entire tune?

My suggestion is to download the free program Minitones and you can install that program on your card. Transfer an .mp3 tune onto your card that you want to make a ringer from. Open Minitones and it will find all of your .mp3 files, check the one you want to use, shorten it to 30-35 seconds and then when done, click ADD and it puts the new ringer into main memory for you to use. I suggest quickly deleting that huge file of yours, it is eating up space on your card.
