When you hot sync your palm to your pc, I believe it it all ready set to sync your outlook settings with your palm. Have you tried it yet?
You can customize your hot sync by letting your palm override certain programs or your pc to override your palm.

Also when you have the installation cd in your pc there are a few free games and programs to load on your new palm. I missed them the first time a ran it.

Brian,
You should be able to create an export file of your Outlook contacts and then import that file into the Palm desktop. The supported import file types for Palm desktop contacts are:
Comma Delimited (.csv, .txt) and Tab Separated Values (.tab, .tsv, .txt).
So if you launch Outlook then select the File menu> import export> export a file> choose the format (I would choose .csv)> select the contacts file to export> choose location to save (desktop).
When you've finished, now open your Palm desktop, go to the contacts view and select the file menu> import > select the .csv from your desktop., this should import that data into your Palm desktop.

I actually learned how to sync my 650 to MS Outlook 'cause that's where all my info (contacts, calendar) already were. So instead of transferring from MS Outlook to Palm Desktop, download the MS Outlook conduit (you can get it from Palm's website).
This way you won't have to transfer anything. Just sync to MS Outlook. It took a few tries to learn it but it works like a charm now.
