How does "automatic" install work?
On my Cingular 650 (not on the computer) I went to Google.com/gmm and downloaded the Google Maps for Palm to my SD card. No problems. The PRC file shows up on card info. According to the Palm user manual, new applications "install automatically." Google Maps does not show up when I press applications button. This is the first application I have tried to install.
What's wrong here? How do I install applications? What's QuickInstall, do I need it and if so where do I get it?

1) Google maps has to be on your internal rom. Cause it needs to access you data paln for it to work. It can't run from and SD card.
Depending on the app most games, and etc. can run form your sd but the ones that need to access your data or phone need to reside in your internal rom.
2) you don't really need quick install if you plan on downloading most popular palm os apps. But if your want to download and support the not so popular you will need to have a computer and quick install. It is also a good idea to use quickinstall/palm desktop to backup your device PIM. You can get quick install over at the palm.com it always comes with palm desktop. You should already have it.
Heres some help on how to install apps and etc.
