how to set ban on phone

I have a treo 650, and travelling in Trinidad, can't get local network, was told to make sure the ban was set at 1800, any advise on how to do this manually?

On the phone screen hit your menu button. Under Options select Select Band. On my Verizon phone its set to Automatic but sounds like you need to make specific selection.
