Default I have to to a Hard reset almost every morning?

cant get the device to turn on most every morning...especially after charging...green light is on, etc.

Sprint version.

any thoughts/input?

I never turn mine off. When I did though I had to hold the end button down for three or four seconds to get it to turn on.

mispoke...

not necc. a hard reset...but the only way to get it going is to open the battery door...lift battery out...and close back up...

whatever that is...

hard, soft, warm, cold, whatever...

its a pain in the arse.

I don't mean to imply anything here. But I had to do the same thing a few times...then figured out I had to hold the answer or end button down a little longer to activate the screen once it went to sleep once I loaded all my software stuff on there. But if you are not having that problem during the rest of the day then my suggestion does not work.

The issue is most likely caused by a program that did not initialze correctly (usually a wireless one), or an alarm for an appt that spans over a day (this is a stuck alarm issue). Both of these are solvable.

First, make sure that you dont have any emails trying to send in teh background during the night. Also check on any programs such as keyboard drivers and system utilities to make sure you have the latest versions of those programs. IN the case of teh keyboard driver, it might be on, when not using the keyboard and that would cause an issue.

Check any birthdays/appts that are on jan 1 or 2nd that you have an alarm for that is one or two days before.

Finally, check the palm.com/us/support website for the latest Sprint update. You will want to do a hard reset and then install your apps back one at a time for this to ensure you dont end up resetting everyday again.

You know you can perform a soft reset just by removing the battery cover and hitting that little reset button, right? You don't have to take the battery out. I don't know what your problem is. I NEVER have any problems turning my 650 back on, regardless of the very few times the I ever turn it "off" in the first place.

Lightbulb Same Issue!!!

Same exact problem here with my Treo 650! Using the reset button next to the battery doesn't work; I have to remove the battery too.

THIS IS NOT A SOFTWARE ISSUE -- I mean give me a break, who is going to make sure there's not an email being sent/received in the middle of the night?!? How rediculous does that sound. This device should have no issue with that functionality.

To prove this to be a hardware issue, I've done a hard reset (erased all data), DID NOT RE-SYNC ANY DATA (either from the PC or Wireless), and the Treo locked up anyway within the 24 hours.

After those tests Verizon is sending ANOTHER replacement (yeah, my second wierd issue with Treo 650's; I've yet to try to resolve my original problem being what I call dyslexic DTMF, I dial 1234, I see 1234 on the screen, but IVR or Voicemail systems on the other end may hear 2134).

Call your provider for a replacement but don't hold your breath on the reliability of the replacement.

Actually, that does sound like a software issue, and one caused by the network that you are on. I would ask if there is any provisioning of the line or "off" times that the towers closest to you might have during the night. If so, and your device is searching for a signal when this resetting of towers is happening, then that too could be an issue for resetting.

Of course, if it is hardware, and you find that after the nth replacement that its still happening, maybe its just a freak occurance with that batch of models.

Exclamation Replacement Required!

I also had the same issue (no 3rd party apps). FORCED Sprint to send me a new, NOT REFURB. Speak to Tier II tech only. Don't take no for an answer if it is still under the manufacturer's warranty. Do NOT allow them to transfer you to Lockline as they will charge you $50 and send a refurb. On my third NEW T650, all replaced FREE OF CHARGE by Sprint. Watch out. "Stick it to the man." If you need further assistance with Sprint send me a personal note. I can tell you many tales and teach you many things.
