| I just got my first palm treo 650 OK so I got this phone and so far pretty neat I am very pleased with Bluetooth and more plus the organizer is a great tool. However I wanted to know if there is a way to assign mp3 ringtones to my personal contact. I do not have a SD Card was hoping to save on buying one right now. Is there a way to download striaght to phone.

| Hello, Johnny. Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new Treo. As for ringtones without an SD card, one thing to remember is that space on the Treo is limited. If you're trying to get tones before you get a card, you won't want to use an entire song. A 20-30 second portion of a song will save you space and be all you need, because, by that time, your call will go to voicemail. You can use free software like WavePad, to edit mp3's you already have on your PC. After that, you can sync them to your Treo and they should be available to you to use as ringtones.

| But How do I do it OK that's a good idea , but everytime I want to sync to the palm from my Mac there is only a SD Card selection. Basically what I am doing is draging in the send to palm icon and then syncing . Could it be that the MP3 is too large and defults to this. Or should I get another APP program for syncing. (HOTSYNC)

Just drag-and-drop like you've been doing. But you'll definitely want to edit the music first, the entire songs will be way too big without a card.

| Do yourself a favor... Johnny,
Do yourself a favor...if there's only one application to get for your Treo, then make it Mark/Space's Missing Sync. I work on a Mac too and it goes light years beyond Apple's iSync. Works flawlessly. You can drag MP3s to its install window and it will install your sounds on your Card or phone. It syncs your contacts, calendar, tasks, events, calls, memos...everything basically.
And it is very stable and have no crashes with it. It's worth it's weight in syncing....is that a pun? weight and sinking....get it...ah forget it!!!

| Finally a Mac guy, are you still leaving outside the box or have you jumped back through “Windows”. Ok I will definitely get this application (once I figure out where I can find it) I have noticed something kind of odd with the Treo to Entourage sync. Everything comes over which is perfect, I did noticed that with my tasks the reminder feature (time or alert) doesn’t come over with the sync. I basically have to go into each task and add the reminder. I must get some ring tones on this thing that are preloaded are horrible. Is anyone out there a Mac person or totally new to the Treo???? |

| Johnny, Trust me...I am Mac all the way Johnny,
I have been working on Macs for more than 20 years. I have never done Windows...nor do I see that being a part of my future anytime soon. I can't tell you how many Macs I have owned over the years. I am very familiar with them.
Now...to learn more about Missing Sync, click on this link: http://www.markspace.com/
You can also purchase it on that site as well. It will give you all the info you need. I am sure all the Mac users in this forum would back me up and say that Missing Sync makes life a lot easier. I use the Apple apps for syncing. (ICal, Address, etc.) I don't know how Entourage would do with Missing Sync but the company web site should have the answer for that.
Oh by the way, there's a lot of Treo owners who are Mac users.

| Here's what Mark Space has to say about Entourage Johnny,
here's what Mark Space says on its web site about Entourage.
User wants to know what to expect if he/she updates to Microsoft Update 11.2.3
Solution Microsoft released an Office update on March 14, 2006. This update allows users to sync their Entourage data with Sync Services.
For information about Sync Services, see our Knowledgebase article on Sync Services
Entourage is considered a Sync Services client, as are the Mark/Space Conduits for Contacts, Events and Tasks.
For information on the Office Update, see: Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac 11.2.3 Update Downloads
Those owners of Missing Sync for Palm OS 5 who wish to sync with Entourage by way of Sync Services should use Missing Sync for Palm OS, version 5.1. To download the free update, go to: http://www.markspace.com/downloads.html
If you choose to sync your Entourage data with Sync Services, it is recommended that you use the Mark/Space Conduits for Contacts, Events and Tasks to sync your Entourage data to your handheld rather than the Entourage conduit. Using the Entourage Sync Services option After installing the update and enabling the Sync Services preference in Entourage, you will have the choice of either merging your data, having Sync Services overwrite Entourage or Entourage overwrite Sync Services. Your Entourage data will sync with Sync Services and then Sync Services will push that data to your .Mac account and your Mac Address Book and iCal. The Sync Services sync goes on in the background and is known as a trickle sync. Whenever a change is made in Entourage it is pushed to Sync Services and whenever a change is made in another Sync Services client, that change is pushed to Entourage.
Entourage data that has synced to Address Book will appear in the All group.
Entourage data that has synced to iCal will appear in a new calendar called Entourage. NOTE that in iCal, regardless of the category structure in Entourage, your Entourage data will be in one calendar. If you create an event on your handheld that you wish to sync to Entourage, be certain to assign that event to the Entourage category on your device.
If you choose to use the Entourage conduit, do not use the Mark/Space Conduits for Contacts, Events and Tasks.
For information on the Entourage conduit, see: http://www.markspace.com/support/ind...od_id=2&id=346
For any problems that arise from syncing Entourage with Sync Services, refer to Microsoft's Mac Support site: http://www.microsoft.com/mac/support.aspx

Hello Johnny!
Welcome to the Treo world. You have asked a good question and you have gotten some great and informative answers. As you can see we are a great forum and the Treo is, well, just Great!
Use it well, and do not be afraid to ask any other questions.
I just downloaded Wavepad (thanks kdallen) and now I will find the song by My Chemical Romance ("I'm Not OK") and use that as a ring tone for my sister. he, he, he , he.
