    Default I'm considering a Treo. Can I ...

... easily communicate between Mac and PeeCee? i.e. I'd like to be able to sync both my Mac (personal) and PeeCee (work) information from MS Entourage - calendar, events, contacts, etc. etc.

Is this possible? Is it a 'standard' operation? Anyone else currently doing this?

    Thanks for helping a newbie!

Would you be syncing with Outlook on the work PC? Also, do you want the PIM information comingled in one application, or would it be ok if personal and work are separated?

    Alex,

Thanks for chiming in. Yes, I would ideally like to sync my work's Outlook (PC) to my home's Entourage (Mac): keeping the same contacts, appt's, notes, etc.

I'm not sure what PIM info is, but if it means email info etc, I guess I'd like to have both my personal email and work email separated? Does that make sense? All I know at the moment is that I'd like to be able to essentially switch and update info between the two machines (semi-effortlessly) while sending, checking emails from it (Treo). Hope I'm clear enough... Thanks again!

PIM (personal information management) covers all the functions of Outlook or Entourage.

So, if you mean to have both your work and personal calendar, contacts, tasks, and notes on your home Mac, work PC, and your Treo, then I'm not sure what the best approach would be.

I would assume that if you setup things on each system to sync to the respective applications, the information should be merged on the Treo. Then would end up merged on the next sync to each system.

Separating your personal and work information would be an easier task, because there are Outlook like applications for Palm devices, such as KeySuite and Beyond Contacts. These applications can keep separate databases from the built-in PIM applications. In my situation, I keep personal and work data separate. I use Agendus Pro (which uses the built-in PIM databases) for personal data and I use Beyond Contacts for work data.

Syncing email is not possible for Entourage as far as I know, and there might be 1 or 2 email applications that sync with Outlook. You should be able to find a solution to be able to wirelessly retrieve both your personal and work email.

    Alex,

Thanks for the indepth insight. I appreciate it! I guess I'm just not convinced enough yet (without having physically checked one out) that it's the right tool for me just yet. I'd like things to be much simpler and work with both systems equally proficient with the least amount of this-and-that type of 3rd party software. One day ...
