Default IMAP on the Cingular 650?

Hello everyone!

I'm trying to do as much research as possible for the glorious moment this summer when my Nextel contract runs out and I can switch to Cingular and get the Holy Grail of phones, so I'm wondering if I can check an IMAP email account with the software included with the phone. It's not an Exchange server email account, so I was just wondering if anyone has any experiance with this. Thanks for the help!

No problem at all. One of my accounts is with AOL and I send and receive without a hitch. Where I do have a problem with Versamail, Cingular and the unlocked 650 is with AT&T Worldnet but that is POP3.

Default Need Help with AOL

Hi Jackoat,

I am having trouble using aol. I can receive but not send. And I also can't sync... could you share your settings with me. It would help me out a lot.

Since it is working for you, I thought maybe your settings would work for me.

Thanks,

Reese (ReeseB@aol.com)

Here are the account settings that should be used to send/receive AOL:
IMAP Server: imap.aol.com
Username: your AOL screen name
Password: your AOL password

SMTP Server: smtp.aol.com
Username: your AOL screen name
Password: your AOL password

Tap the "More..." button in the server account settings. In that window, enter the following:
POP3 SETTINGS:
Use Port: 143

SMTP SETTINGS:
Use Port: 587

Default VersaMail

Does anyone have the Cingular settings for getting the Cingular e-mail via Versamail? I am having a hard time getting it set up.

Thanks,

ReeseB (ReeseB@aol.com)

Default As far as with Cingular!

I had trouble sending emails out of veramail and when I finally called the techs at Cingular they told me to use "cwmx.com" for the outgoing server. I don't know why they don't tell you that right away but it worked for me.

Good Luck,

TV GUY

Yep, SMTP settings> "cwmx.com" works with any POP account and versamail. Yahoo, gmail, .mac, etc.
