This seems SOO promising if I can overcome a few hurdles...I downloaded the file per the information supplied : www.google.com/gmm onto my card, which has plenty of room to spare. I tapped the icon and was told I needed to configure my phone at www.google.com/gmm/configure.html Went there. Told to select my phone manufacturer below. Palm isn't one of the four listed. Told to select country and phone carrier below that (Cingular). At this point, no choices are presented when I tap the options tab besides country and carrier, but a RED colored Note looms below that: "NOTE. JAVASCRIPT must be enabled to use this wizard." To see if it is already enabled (apparently not) I tap options, preferences, and see three tabs across the top: Page, General and Advanced. Under the general tab I found empty, unchecked boxes besides, among other things, disable javascript. Hump! So javascript is NOT disabled but I get the red lettered message. Stumped at this point but still eager to use google maps. Any ideas out there?
I did the OTA download since I wasn't home when I read the thread about the app and loaded directly on the card and it's been working great. Maybe you could try that, and cut out the middleman (your PC).
Honolulu - 2,500 miles west of somewhere in the middle of nowhere, the land of Shakes. Kyoceria 6135, Treo 300, 600, 650, 700p, 700w, Centro & 800W, Touch Pro plus 3 other WM phones...
Thanks to both of you for your replies. This Am the configuration problem seems to have vanished and I am dazzled to find this working just fine. As a Red Cross DAT captain who navigates back county roads to fires and other disasters, this is an amazing portable version of my desktop google maps!! The only remaining question will be connectivity in rural places.
