You can download trial versions of most software from the store here. I'd suggest starting with an uninstaller and backup software. Assuming you're using a PC, double clicking on the .prc file should add it to Hotsync Manager to be installed to your Treo.

Get a good uninstaller before you install any new programs. I use Destaller Pro, and it's been great for me.

An uninstall program will make sure that if you decide to get rid of a program, your Treo will be properly cleaned of all the files and databases that came with that program. You want the uninstall program on your Treo first, before installing anything else, so that it can properly track what you are putting on your Treo. This way, you can try things out and if you don't like it, or it causes your Treo to act strange, you can delete the program with no damage done. Hope this makes sense...

Yes. When you download a program, typically it will come with a .prc file. Just click on that, and it will ask you if you want to add it via Palm QuickInstall. Then you can choose to add it to the Treo or to SD card (if you have one). THen the next time you HotSync, it will be there!

You're not dumb. It just takes a while to get aquainted.

Are you using Windows XP? Perhaps you downloaded a ZIP file. If so, you will need to unzip/extract it. XP should be able to do this for you quite easily.

You cannot, as far as I am aware, simply drag to an e: drive. You will need to open up your Palm QuickInstall to get it to your Treo. You can do that like this: Start : All Programs : Palm : PalmOne QuickInstall. Then, drag the file you want to install to the "Handheld" box. Voila.
