Instant Messaging - Newbie question - Treo Forums

Hello, I am new here and have recently purchased a 650. I researched through the other threads about instant messaging, but didn't find my answer.

Since I can receive Aol instant messages through my normal phone, (each screen name is given a 5 digit code,) I was wondering if there is a utility out there that would allow me to view my screen name without a data package, (cingular.)

I have seen the various products that allow IMs, but only when used through a data plan. I was just curious if something exists that would allow me to do the same, only through text messages. Thanks!

Chatopus does something like that, but I can only ever get it to connect to MSN, and not AIM or Yahoo.

thanks guys....I looked through the software, but I think that they all rely on a data plan to connect via internet. I was looking for software that would allow me to have a buddy list and chat just through text messages....but I'm guessing that it doesn't exist. Thanks guys.

Uh, what you did before was through a data plan too. I recommend Mundu, it's very reliable.
