I'm having trouble getting my 650 to access the internet using my cingular sim card.. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I have a cingular account with a data plan. I was hoping just by switching the SIM card and doing a few basic things I would be surfing , but it seems I was hoping for too much. Was I?

Additional Information:

The SIM card is coming out of a blackberry.

but its a cingular sim and your phone is locked to cingular or is an unlocked treo gsm 650 and you can dial out and receive calls, correct?

Yes it is. I resolved the Internet issue. Now I can't sync my contacts with the pc at home. The sync operation occurs but I can't see my contacts on the computer. Any ideas

Check your hotsync settings. If your only syncing to one PC, the settings should be "syncronize" Contacts. If your syncing with your work computer, you need to change the settings to "Handheld overwrites Desktop", and set this as the default.
