    Default is it dead?

My 650, bought used on ebay a couple of years ago, has worked well - but suddenly is acting up - sync problems, touch screen problems - I spent a long time with a tech guy today at Palm and ended up doing a hot reset - but it's still not working smoothly. When do I know it's time to give it a decent burial?

If it won't even hotsync properly after a hard reset, even just the Calendar and contacts, then I would suspect that it might be time. Have you bought a new fresh battery lately and tried that? Batteries do run out of steam and that can cause all kinds of issues too.

Hot reset cracks me up...since the hard reset did not work the easy way is to have the phone plugged in and see if you are experiencing any problems. If it works plugged in to power but not with the battery you have isolated the issue.

Oh well - soft/hard - cold/hot - you know what I mean! Thanks - it's not the battery, which is fairly new - and holds a charge very well. I think the poor thing has come to the end of its natural life....

    Hi:

The only other chance with a 650 is a Zero Out reset. The instructions are here and note that it not easy to do with only two hands. A helper could be beneficial. Scroll down to the next-to-last item on that link.

This is a special reset and only applies to Tungsten T5 units and the Treo 650.

Oh - thanks! I didn't know there was an "Omega 13" reset! I'll enlist the help of my far more technologically able teen age son. I hate to give up on it without trying everything -

It worked - the Zero Out reset actually worked! I thought the poor thing was headed to the scrap heap - and lo and behold - I have a living Treo again. It's a miracle! Thanks to all.
