I am in the market for a treo650. I compared it with the 7100 blackberry device.
I did a user poll on the how well the treo600 and 650 compared. All gave it rave reviews.

So now I am ready.

I just went through 2 weeks of hell with Buy.com with the same kind of deal. These phone are too new and have too many problems to buy from an online store. When something goes wrong with it it'll take you forever to return it and it is not worht the 200 bucks. Your time is worht more trust me. If something goes wrong with it in 30 days and you've bought it at a brick and mortar store just bring it back. That's when you need to get the bugs out. In the first 30 days. I cannot tell you the nightmares and wasted time I spent on the phone and online with Buy.com. Just bought my phone from Cingular this morning and already feel better. Good luck.

FWIW, our online store (see banner above) offers it for $199.99 with Verizon Wireless. Rebates do apply and 2 year agreement is needed.

Good luck with your decision. I think you'll find that most folks are very pleased with their Treo 650's.

Would you mind giving me some details to the actual Verizon plan/contract.
I read through it and saw the 2 rebates. What are the pluses and minuses of such a contract?
As far as any phone issues, since it is sold via your "store" do I have to return the phone to you if something happens within the first 30 days ?

Here are the Verizon plans we have available.

The rebate is as follows (now that its' August 1st, I have to check on whether it will continue)
Offer valid on new activations July 1st, 2005 through July 31st, 2005.

$200 Voice & Data Bonus Rebate

For a limited time, receive a $200 Voice & Data Rebate when you order service on-line from this website, purchase a Treo and activate a Verizon voice plan $39.99 and higher with a PDA/Smartphone Unlimited feature $34.99 or higher. Offer not valid for pre-paid service. Credit approval and one contract required. Early termination fee may apply. To qualify and redeem the rebate, complete the rebate form, provide a copy of your 3nd wireless bill showing active plan and feature and payment in full with no previous balance, and agree to maintain service in good standing for a minimum of 181 days in order to avoid an equipment discount charge back of $250. Smartphone Returns

You may return you Smartphone for credit within 30-days of activation by obtaining an RMA through 888-378-8091. The wireless service account initiated with the purchase of the phone must be deactivated and in good standning before the phone can be returned. With most carriers, if you don't deactivate service within 14-days, you can not terminate your agreement (without paying a penalty fee) until the end of your service contract.


So, to answer your question, you'd probably need to deactivate within the first 14 days and then go the return route within 30 days. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to call our toll-free support line at 888-599-8983.

What are the pluses and minuses of such a contract?

Plus, is that you're final cost for a Treo 650 is around $199. That's pretty good. The only drawback is that you are in a 2 year contract. However, most wireless providers offering the 650 are at 2 years. This helps subsidize the cost of the Treo 650.

I know that Verizon runs that special promotion for existing customers to get $$ of new hardware. I don't know the specifics and how it relates to the Treo 650. I'd give them a ring and see what they offer you. Usually, this will come with a contract extension.

Don't leave your old cell phone number behind. IMPORTANT: DO NOT CANCEL SERVICE WITH YOUR CURRENT PROVIDER until after you have received your new phone and your number has been moved to your new Cingular Wireless account.

I was going through the process and it stated that I was moving my number to Cingular, even though I was placing my order with Verizon. My apologies I did not make that clear.
