Before I buy a Treo I wanted to know if I can share e-mail, calendar, and contacts with other people in my office (about four). Do I need and exchange server at my office? Any ideas would be appreciated.
an exchange server might be a bit much for a 4 person office unless u were looking to remote connect and sync. possibly using different profiles on the same computer would work too.
Profiles would be nasty. Doing a good searchon exchange like clients would net you something that would work better and a lot cheaper (free in a few cases I believe). That would be a good idea.
Another option would be a small deployment of PocketMirror pro to all of teh devices, and then have a shared folder that is syned for all of them. That will work for all but email but do what you want.
You might want to check out hosted exchange services. We use 1and1.com. It is cheap and flexible. We can access both account-specific and shared data using Outlook, various handhelds and web-based Outlook hosted by 1and1.
Connecting Treo's to the exchange server is pretty straightforward.
