    Default Issue with palm HotSync?

How does one manage what the HotSync tries to restore/install on your Treo? I had installed an application on my Treo and it kept resetting, until I did a hard reset and removed all of my data. Now when I do a HotSync all of the original applications are reinstalled (including the corrupting file) and I need to to the hard reset again and remove all my data. Is there a way that I can remove the corrupting file prior to the HotSync?

    Thanks.

Good question. I looked to see where my backup app or files are and can't seem to locate them on palm desktop.

Have you got filez on your treo? If you do have you tried using it to delete the file from your treo or card, then do a custom Hotsync with the handheld overwriting the pc?

Default no files on my treo

When I do the hard reset of the treo there are no files, but the sync does try and restore them. After the sync, my treo goes into a mode of repeated reset, which I assume is due to some corrupt file being loaded onto it during the sync.

Do you use filez? I have had the handheld overwrite the pc for outlook functions but not to remove software. I would think if you could delete the program or corrupt file with filez then have the handheld overwrite your pc, then you would still have all your stuff except that one program/file.

If someone knows where to find the files on the pc and delete them there, then do a hotsync with the pc overriding the handheld, but I can't see where they are..

You need to delete the offending program file from you back up folder otherwise everytime you perform a hot sync, you're going to reinstall it.

Since you've already performed a hard reset, on your pc, navigate to your program files:
my computer> local disk c:>program files> palm (or palmone)>your hotsync user profile> backup. Open the back up folder and find the .prc and .pdb (if it exists) and delete them.
Now you can perform a hotsync again and the offending app will not get reinstalled.

You might move the doc2go files back to the pc and then delete them from your doc2go. Then convert them back a couple at a time and see if they are causing it to reset.

If docs2go is causing the reset delete from your handheld and pc and reload it from the palm pc.

Default Thanks! I'm back and better than ever

Thanks MillerHifi for your input. I now have restored my Treo with it's original data and no reset. BTW, the offending file was voicecall. I will probably retry installing it, since it looks like a cool app.

Thanks for everyone's feedback and help!

Glad I could be of help but one question, why would you re-install that if your treo didn't like it?
