| Hey all, I just bought a 650 (Verizon) that was used and need advise. 1st It didn't get the CD that comes with it from the factory so can anyone point me to where and what to download? I'd like to get rid of all the stuff on it and start new. I'm looking at buying a blue-tooth headset, any recommendations? Should I activate my current plan I have on another phone before or after I "Re-Install" everything on it? It came w/a 1GB SD card and I'd like to use it as a MP3 player also, any suggestions on programs? Also, Im a handicaped person and am wondering if anyone knows of any cool programs that can make it voice activated? I thank you sooo much! kyLe |
Hi Kyle-
First off, welcome to Everything Treo and congrats on your new Treo 650. You can perform what is called a
hard reset to bring your Treo back to it's factory state. You'll want to download the latest version of
Palm Desktop in order to sync your Treo. The Treo will have all the software you need to get going - as it's installed on the ROM (read only memory).
It's easy to use the Treo 650 as an MP3 player. You can use the pre-installed Real Player, but most prefer
PocketTunes (see
review). You'll want to store your MP3 files on the SD Card that came with your Treo. The easiest way to do this is using either an
exteral SD Card Reader or
Softick's Card Export which mounts the SD Card like a hard drive on your PC.
There are a few voice activation programs -
VoiceDialIt is one. I haven't used them to date, so cannot recommend one in particular.
I'd suggest reading our
Bluetooth forums for suggestions on a headset - feel free to post if you have questions regarding a particular headset. We also have a few
Bluetooth Headset reviews available on the site.
Hope this helps. Good luck and ask questions if ya gottem'.
