just got a 650 from cingular

well my razor died on me yesterday and ive wanted a treo for a while. I am hoping i didnt make a mistake by getting the 650 now, i was looking forward to the 700 with windows for a while but i heard this is still better.

1. Anyways what would you all suggest for a 2gb sd memory card?

2. Also what applications would you suggest for a planner, aim, voice recording (ideas when they come to me spur of the moment), web browsing, and game emulators? those are the main things i would like to use this for.

3. I also was wondering how I can go about making my own ringtones on the pc and uploading them to the treo.

4. My dad got me the tom tom software because i am going to be traveling cross country soon , so all i need to get now is a blue tooth gps?

Last do i need to upgrade my firmware or do the cingular phones already have them installed and does anyone have any good OSX looking skins for the treo?

First off, congrats on your new Treo and welcome to Everything Treo. I'll see if I can tackle a few of your questions before I retire for the evening.

You can use any brand, but if you're shopping for brand, then check out SanDisk. I use them in my cameras and my Treo. Reliable media.

Also what applications would you suggest for a planner, aim, voice recording (ideas when they come to me spur of the moment), web browsing, and game emulators? those are the main things i would like to use this for.

For AIM, you can use the freeware Toccer or I'd suggest reading our Instant Messenger roundup to familiarize yourself with the various pay programs.

With regards to Planner, you've already got a solid PIM with Palm Desktop and the Treo. If you need a higher octane calendar, then I'd suggest Agendus.

I also was wondering how I can go about making my own ringtones on the pc and uploading them to the treo.

TomTom rocks. Get yourself a SIRF III receiver.

You should be at 1.17. There are a number of OS X skins available for zLauncher (see our review).

for the SD card does speed matter? I mean i see cards the same size 20-30 more or less. I am planning on being a power user and want everything i own to run as fast as possible haha. Also am i best unlocking the phone and taking the cingular crap off or will i be just fine the way it is?

3. SNES emulator (im fiending for some mario :-)

also if i am going to be using tom tom , 2 gb sd should be enough? Other than rings i dont plan on putting much audio or video on my treo

No speed does not matter, the card is just the storage device. 2gig is the largest card that will work with a 650.

I got a 256m card and I have room for some stuff and one audio book, should have gone bigger.
