keyboard problem

Sooo my old 650's screen went out this morning. My friend gave me his old 650 which doesn't work, and I found out once I activated it that the 'r' key inputs everything as 'e' (the button next to it). Is there a way to fix this myself? I'd rather not buy a new phone since I was able to snag this one for free but I guess it's not like I paid anything for it anyway. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Compressed air or contact cleaner and push both keys while spraying the contacts.
