    Default like having a hampster

My Treo is not 2 weeks old yet and I have noticed an odd feature. At ramdom times when it is off but the sound not turned off it makes short little electronic chortling noises. I have turned it on looking for any change but I don't find any. I check for new emails, sms messages or alarms but there is nothing new. I have signed up for Verizon Wireless Sync but I don't see the LED changing to yellow. It is kind of like having a hampster in your pocket. I am assuming that these are noises of Treo contentment rather than distress.

Sometimes my Treo makes speakers, phones, radio make a weird noise when it is near them. Usually this is something to do with the Treo's radio. Is that what you mean, or your Treo is just making some noises on its own?

Is it the "Chirp" sound (you can hear it in Sounds preferences)? Maybe you've set an alarm, or a notification in your e-mail program? Or when your Treo loses/gains network signal?

I am pretty happy with the phone but I did find it to be very unstable with frequent resets so I did a hard reset and reloaded each program from a new download instead of a new Hot Sync. This has given me a much more stable phone and a lot of increased memory--I was probably carrying orphan files from as far back as my old Palm III.

There is still some occasional chirping. It is now making the sound you get when it asks if it can connect to the internet. It also seems to ask this at odd times. If you take the check box "NEVER ask this again" instead of behaving it just goes ahead and cconnects whenever it wants to.
