Listen to music from PC on treo?
Ive heard of internet radio and used it in the past, but im looking more for something where i have control on what is playing atm without being at my PC at home. Like using a treo as a wireless remote and choose songs to play. This is like the only thing holding me back from getting a treo. this would be on a treo 650 gsm through tmobile.

You would probably need to be running your own Shoutcast server from the PC, and use pTunes or another player to stream the audio.

Ah, sorry, missed that part. Yes, you would be stuck with the Shoutcast playlist. You'd probably need something like Palm VNC, possibly in conjunction with a VPN client.

Omg dude will that allow me to selete music files and play them? Or only look at and move files? If I could use it to watch movies stored on my hard drive or music I would be sooo happy. Can it do that?

Well, VNC would allow you to control your PC remotely, so you could select songs to play via Shoutcast. The only thing I'm not sure of is whether pTunes would be able to stream audio while you had a VNC connection active. As for streaming video, I don't believe that's supported on the Treo.

ah, well this is really getting somewhere, thanks for the help. As for the last thing, do u know anyone who could test it out to c if u can have both running and working? Also do u think it would be practical? Like, is it annoying to scroll through the files, or would it be similar to scrolling through an ipod(the way the files r set up in the user interface on the ipod screen)? as far as video is concerned, would i have to save it onto my expandable memory card in order to watch it, or is that not supported also?

Your best bet would probably be to download trial versions of the software and try it out. VNC basically lets you view your PC screen from your Treo. Everything would look like it does on your monitor, except obviously on the smaller Treo screen.
As for video, search for TCPMP. That's the most popular video player for the Treo. And yes, you can definitely play video from your SD card.

right on! I found this other program yesterday, well 2 or 3 actually. The one i downloaded and got working, havent tried on treo yet, is called Gloonet from GlooLABS. I basically select audio files on my PC and then it sends them to my account on gloonet.com (it is free =P) then i go on another pc, or treo i presume, and find the song i want to listen to and it will stream it back to my audio player. Now since i dont have a treo with me to test this i cant really be sure how it will sound on a treo. Well not sound more so will it be buffering every 5-25 or so seconds if i have the bitrate of the files at about 128kb or so? I would have edge support so id assume that my fasted download rate would be somewhere around 90-110kb/s and on gprs it would be significantly lower (30-50?). I have a friend who still has dialup so i might ask him to try streaming it and c if it makes him buffer becaue dialup should be about GPRS speeds or a little faster.
I also read about this. A player called Kinoma(sp?) is releasing similar technology specifically for pda's(the treo infact i think!) And what it does is, along with Orb (a program similar to Gloonet, though i hear it is a bit more complicated) u can stream audio and video. Not sure if this is already out but it sounds very nice, the site i found was dated in april of 06, so i dunno.
